A strange thing happened

On Friday, one of the administrators tapped on my door when I was teaching.  When I opened the door, she said I just wanted to say “Thank you for all of the hard work you do, we appreciate you.  That’s all.”  I responded with a quizzical look and “Thank You.”  I’m still thinking it was strange that she stopped by just to say that.  They said it in faculty meeting just a few days before.   Maybe they are trying to improve the morale of the teachers. . . I do like being appreciated*, but appreciation is always better in the form of dollars!  ;-)

*It was nice but really came at a weird time

I am feeling the love and support of my admin as well. I don’t know if it is because I have been here so long and they know they can’t get rid of me or because I am really trying to be there for the kids. For me, the kids come first. I don’t believe in letting them run wild. I hold them accountable. However, It is important for them to learn and achieve and be independent.

Declarations of appreciation are nice when accompanied by actions too! :) Personally, I would have been annoyed by the interruption.

Strange indeed! Although it is always nice to get words of appreciation, but it would be much nicer if she would come to you during lunch break or after school and tell you this. I can imagine it must have been kind of strange having her step into your class like that.
