About
Who is Miss A?
I am a 3o something, single Christian who is struggling through her third year as a teacher in an urban school district.I teach history and coach cheerleading. I am finding it really difficult to make my class relevant and interesting to my students. The stuff that is in the curriculum I am required to teach is “boring” to them. Although my purpose is to educate my students, my teaching duties are often interrupted by the extra curricular cheer responsibilities. At this site, I plan to journal my attempts to make education relevant, fun and interesting to my students. I will try to document lesson ideas, classroom blunders, funny students, & complaints while on this journey. In the summer, I plan to share some of my awe-inspiring, earth shattering & just plain senseless musings.

Hi Miss Teacha!
I noticed you found my blog, and I’m thrilled since I am a new blogger. I am a 20 year veteran teacher, but I’m only 41! Please consider following my blog and letting your friends know since I will be writing more posts to EMPOWER both beginning and veteran teachers. I will do the same for your blog!
Regarding the boring curriculum…students are right…it is boring! One of my posts explains a strategy incorporating technology which help pique student interest…check it out…it’s called “Are They Talking Behind Your Back?”
Thanks again for your visit! I

Hi,
I just found your blog tonite and I looove it!!! I am a teaching assistant in Kindergarten and I will be graduating with my BS in Education in about a year and a half. In reading your posts I feel as if you are in my head. I have been in the school system for many years as a TA so I know the ins and outs. The paperwork and bullcrap. Crazy parents and superintendents. Sometimes I think that I am crazy for wanting to be a teacher. But I love kids and I want to make a difference in their lives.
Anyhoo, keep up the great work. I love your ideas. I could see using some of them in 5th or 6th grade as well.

Hi. I\’m writing because after reading your blog, I was hoping you could be of some help. I\’m writing a book called \”Stories from the Classroom\” where teachers and students write about their experiences in school that contribute to the \”problem\” with the education system. I started a blog with some of the ideas: uneducationinamerica.blogspot.com
and would love to hear your experience on topics such as: the rigor of the curriculum, Inclusion, Bilingual Education, testing, grade inflation, homework, grades,
etc
I would love to hear from you in any capacity and I would love to have you contribute ideas and \’stories\’ for my book.
Many thanks!
Tina
